12th International Congress Quality, Accreditation and Patient Safety in Health
Asst. Prof. Dr. Gülay Tamer and Lecturer Handan Çetinkaya from Istanbul Gelisim University, School of Health Sciences, Department of Health Management participated in the 12th International Congress on Quality in Healthcare Accreditation and Patient Safety and presented their research on The Effect of Quality Management System on Health Institutions.
The 12th International Congress Quality, Accreditation and Patient Safety in Health, jointly organized by the Health Academicians Association (HAA) and Integrated Solution for Healthcare Quality LLC (ISHQ), supported by TÜSEB, HAKSAD and TSE; was held this year. The main theme of congress was “Continuous Quality Improvements In Clinical Services, Patient and Medication Safety, Risk Management and Their Effects on Reimbursement Systems”. The congress was held between 25-28 April 2018 at Atlantis Resort & Delux Hotels in Antalya of Turkey,. Prof. Dr. Seval Akgün from Turkey and Prof. Dr. Yannis Skalkidis from Greece were the president of the congress. The congress was attended by many participants from national and international level. Asst. Prof. Dr Gülay Tamer and Lecturer Handan Çetinkaya also participated and they made presentation of the paper titled, The Effect of the Quality Management System on Health Institutions.
In their study, Tamer and Çetinkaya aimed to introduce the developments in the field of quality management system in health institutions and to present possible solutions to these problems in health institutions in the near future. For this purpose, they conducted a literature review including the evaluation and interpretation of approaches to quality management system in health institutions. Tamer and Çetinkaya, examined 48 articles published between 2010 and 2017. Тhey have reached the conclusion that implementation of quality management system in health institutions will provide an increase in service quality, personel and patient satisfaction, and resources will be used more effectively and health expenditures will be used more efficiently.
