 How to establish effective communication with children ?


Children are our most valuable assets. Accurate and effective communication with children is very important. We must pay attention to certain points in our communication with children.


Communication is an exchange of information. Dewey (1916) defined “communication to the existence of theindividual in a society that is nature`s way of human behavior”. According to Dökmen (2012), communication “is the process of generating information, transferring, signification”. Cüceloğlu talked to (2014), communication “is the exchange of messages between the two units associated with eachother”. According to Morgan (2009) the communication, produced byan organism and behavior that make sense for other or ganisms that affect the signal. Communications; thoughts, emotions, facial expressions, gestures, speech or in writing, telephone, radio, color tv made by utili zing the tools such as interpersonel transfer.
People communicate, share and find the opportunity to evaluate, and affected people. Have strong communication skills, an individual`s “physicaland emotional” problems are easier to cope with. Effective communication should be considered to establish some considerations. These are:
-Eye on the ignition set up,
-During the communication message focus,
-Body language and gestures, use,
-Stay away from orders and routing,
-Be careful,
-Think before you speak,
-The choice of words when you speak, observe,
-Tone of voice during the conversation to set case-by-casebasis, avoiding using the monotonous tone of voice,
-Is to share opinions and ideas effectively. (Damodare, 2012).
            Interpersonal communication is inevitable. The nature of communication affects the individual and his relationship with the environment. Children's communication affects people's experiences with people and determines their interaction and interaction with other individuals. (Hohmann ve Weikart, 2000). When communicating with children, it is important to be aware of the characteristics of developmental periods, to be considered as unique individuals, and to behave according to the age of the children by being aware of their needs. Children primarily communicate with their families and then the teacher. Adults' communication with children with this awareness will affect the development of the child and the quality of the relationships in a positive way. There are some things to be aware of when communicating with children.
