Öcal talked about the guest: "Our student Hatice Kübra, who graduated last year, was with us. It all started with one of my students saying, 'Sir, we are working on the theory, we watch sample videos on the subject, but can we also make a case study?' In fact, they would have their internship in the next class and they would have the opportunity to observe on the spot, but I said 'why not?' Instead of bringing sample stories to the class, I thought it would be more beneficial for experienced people to come and share their experiences, to listen to the sample cases first hand, and I investigated someone working in a private education institution. I chose Kübra from several options. Because Kübra was both experienced and our alumnus. The transfer of experience by someone who has passed through these rows, as well as them, would both please the students and honor Kübra. She not only shared case studies, but also talked about all the graduation stages, the process of finding a job and accepting a master's degree.''
Öcal likened the transition period to the university, saying that the senior year was anxious. Lect. Sümeyye Öcal said: “What is going to happen now? "There is both curiosity and fear about the business life since the business life has never been started and the idea of" will I be unemployed? "Is in mind."
Kübra gave visiting students tips on how to spend their university years more productively, which will enable them to be preferred by employers as a more qualified graduate. At this point, she talked about the opportunities of the school and Istanbul.
Lecturer Sümeyye Öcal then shared several job interview experiences and made important statements about what to pay attention to during the job interviews. she talked about her own process, her own livelihood for her master's degree and the difficulties she survived, but at the end of the day she started working both at a master's degree in a beautiful university and at a job.
Lecturer Sümeyye Öcal continued her explanations as follows:
“But for this she knew that it was necessary to knock on the new doors insistently, ignoring the doors that were closed in her face, and she continued her search tirelessly. “Yes, the process is very difficult. But it's not impossible after you ask and strive for your ideals.” The students were encouraged by our alumnus. Then we started to study case examples. Although normally it is forbidden to shoot videos, she asked the families not to take any photos, so that she only received permission to be shared in this lesson. She shared with us numerous cases of Down syndrome, autism and learning disabilities. The needs of all these special people were also special and different from each other. The way to reach all of them was varied from each other, all of them were a separate adventure, of course. But being able to teach them, even if there is only one thing to be useful, to contribute to a positive change in their life… This was the reason for all her efforts to turn her fatigue into happiness. We have combined the theoretical knowledge that we used in the course with the methods used and synthesized theory and practice. Here, the parent could not help without mentioning their profiles. ” She talked to the parents about the educator's responsibilities regarding the flow of communication between the parent and management.
Lecturer Sümeyye Öcal asked about the importance of parents in education, especially in special education, what should be considered in information exchange with parents and so on. She stated that although parents sometimes resist accepting the situation, they are open to the persuasion when they believe that it is in the best interests of their children with the correct style.
She ended her speech as follows: “I was in this place a few years ago, we learned a lot from our teachers, they prepared us very well for working life. Gaining experience in the field is a completely different experience. In business, you will be your own teacher and your greatest critic will be your conscience. Because you are responsible to those children, their families and the society.” After thanking the former student who conveyed her sentences and presenting her gift, she was thanked with her wishes to come again.
