Department of Child Development, all developmental areas (mental, language, motor, self-care) between 0-18 years of age, with normal development, with special needs, in need of protection as well as developing social and emotional supportive programs, has been established in order to educate children, family, professionals and community development children and to conduct scientific studies in the field of child development.
The Department of Child Development took the name of Gelişim Child Health and Education ı in 1987 and Sağ Child Development and Education Eğitim in 1996. Today, four-year undergraduate education under the name of Child Development in Schools or Faculties and Yüksek Child Developmentist dört is graduated. Vocational High School and Vocational School are mixed frequently because of the similarities. Schools offer 4-year undergraduate education, while vocational colleges offer 2-year associate degree programs. The presentation was made for the students who will take a four-year bachelor's degree in Child Development Department of the School of Health Sciences. Child Developmentist; He is not a pedagogue, preschool teacher, babysitter, private education teacher or specialist. Our graduates receive developmental diagnostics based on their child developmental titles and provide an appropriate education program with an eclectic approach, providing counseling to families; In addition, it performs services such as child, family and educator on the basis of diagnosing appropriate measures for developmental deviating children. Similarly, in the field of special education, it performs the developmental diagnostics of children with special needs and the necessary measures for the child and the family by taking a transdisciplinary approach with the relevant professionals.
The representative of our profession, Child Development and Educators Association in 2003 Dr. Bahar GÜÇİZ DOĞAN was founded under the leadership of DOĞAN. The association has branches in Istanbul, Bursa and Izmir, with the increasing number of members. Members of the association express the shared sharing of all professionals working in the field of Child Development and Education. Association with this wholeness, in the framework of Human Rights and Child Rights Conventions, in Turkey and in the world, all children grow up healthy, motor, cognitive, language, it aims to enrich the development of the Open-social-emotional and developmental and learning environment. In the studies initiated by the Association, May 20 was designated as Child Development Day.
The curriculum of the Department of Child Development is prepared in accordance with ÇUÇEP (Child Development Core Education Program) which is determined by YÖK. Our department has been examined in detail by the international experts' committees at AHPGS and has been found suitable for accreditation. In the curriculum, there are 3 classes of Fall and Spring, 4th year Fall and Spring. There is also Summer Practice at the end of Grade 3.
Our school B Block 3 There are 2 workshops in the building. One of them is Play and Play Materials, Music Education in Childhood and Drama in Education. The other one is the Application Workshop used in the application of Art and Creativity courses in Childhood.
When we look at the libraries within the scope of Istanbul Gelişim University, the Library of Health Sciences is located in the Rectorate Building. The library, which serves between 8.30-21.30, has a Child Development Shelf. On this shelf there are books of rich content which are of interest to the students.
