Speech Disorders due to Hearing Loss

One of the most important factors effecting the development of language and speech skills in children is hearing.

Hearing loss causes delays and failures in the child's speech development. Therefore, it is very important to diagnose children with hearing loss at an early stage and to direct the child and the family to education with appropriate treatment. Otherwise, there will be difficulties in speech development and these difficulties will bring a series of problems ranging from learning problems to self-development, from academic failure to communication problems.

Problems related to speech due to hearing loss in children will vary depending on many factors such as the age of onset for hearing loss, type of hearing loss, configuration of hearing loss, time of diagnosis, degree of hearing loss, use of hearing aid or cochlear implant, age of onset of hearing aid and/or cochlear implant. As a result, deficient auditory input will cause delays and problems in speech development.
