Istanbul Gelisim University Department of Audiology attended the Istanbul Marathon

When we look at the history of Eurasia Marathon, the idea of ​​running from Asia to Europe, which was brought up in 1973, was carried out in 1979 by the initiative of a group of German tourists. Governor of Istanbul, Athletics Federation and General Directorate of Highways started the preparations. After the preparation phase, it was decided that the event could be organized. The "Asia-Europe Marathon" started in 1979 with the participation of very few people. 

In the following years, the name of the marathon was changed to Eurasia Marathon. In 2013, the name of the Eurasia Marathon was changed to Istanbul Marathon in order to highlight the city's name as in all the marathons of the world. 
The Istanbul Marathon was held on November 11, 2018 and organized in 4 categories. Over the years, Istanbul Marathon has been transformed into an enjoyable event for Turkish sports and Istanbulites. 

The marathon's motto is "Run Istanbul! For a Healthy Future ". The aim was to encourage participants to a healthy life. The marathon, which started with 96 people, reached a number of 150 thousand participants. The 42-kilometer-long marathon, starting at a distance of 250 meters from the Bosphorus Bridge, was completed in front of Sultanahmet. 

The Istanbul Marathon, which is improved from year to year, has become a popular activity among many societies and social groups.

Istanbul Gelisim University Department of Audiology attended the Istanbul Marathon on November 11, 2018 to create awareness for hearing aid. With the students of the Audiology Department and student clubs, they ran to draw attention to the use of hearing aids by hearing impaired individuals.
